To give a visual demonstration of electric fields. A transparent plastic base 150mm square, support a dish 100mm diameter and two 4mm socket terminals, mounted on insulating pillars. Complete with two wire point electrodes to provide a parallel field.

The dish is filled to a depth of 5mm with a layer of castor oil. A fine even sprinkling of semolina is distributed on the surface and the electrodes connected to the power supply. The electric field lines are clearly shown around and between the electrodes.
